Description:
Aura is part of the first generation born after the Shift. The Shift allowed people born after a certain date to see ghosts. Throughout Aura’s life, she considered her ability to be a burden. When her boyfriend, Logan, dies suddenly she starts to enjoy her power since it gave her the capability to keep in touch with him. Not soon after, she meets a mysterious Scottish boy named Zachary. After spending a little time with him, she starts to uncover that he had more secrets than she could ever imagine. But she never would have guessed that those mysteries involve her past and could help her unlock the secrets of the shift.
Review:
Shade is a mysterious and eccentric book that will always keep you on the edge of your seat. The characters are developed well and are very relatable to readers. The world that Jeri Smith-Ready created in this fascinating book will never leave you bored. Aura’s voice is well written and her personality will always keep you guessing. You see her character progress as she deals with the agony followed by Logan’s death and her curiosity towards finding the secrets of the shift. Although the shift is not completely explained in the beginning, this creates a layer of mystery that will be uncovered a little at a time as you read on. I highly recommend all of you readers out there to add this book to your library.
Keep your eyes out for the next two books in the trilogy; Shift and Shine.
